VadeKit Privacy Policy

VadeKit is built to keep your files off the internet. This policy covers the two places data could move at all: the desktop app, and this website.
The desktop app
VadeKit processes your files entirely on your device. We do not receive, store, or transmit your documents, data, or the results of any operation. The app has no analytics, no telemetry, and no advertising.
The app makes exactly three kinds of outbound connection:
- Licence activation. A one-time check that sends only your licence key and a non-identifying device name to our licensing service, operated on our behalf by Dodo Payments. When already online, the app may occasionally re-check that the key is still valid.
- Update checks. The app checks for and downloads new versions through its built-in updater.
- OCR model download. A one-time download of the on-device OCR models, the first time you use OCR Reader.
None of these transmit your files or their contents.
This website (vadekit.com)
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. It is hosted on Vercel, which - like any web host - logs basic technical data (IP address, user agent) for security and performance; we don't have separate access to that beyond what Vercel provides.
- Theme preference. Your light/dark mode choice is saved in your browser's local storage, not a cookie. It never leaves your device and isn't used for tracking.
- Buying VadeKit hands you off to Dodo Payments to complete checkout. Dodo Payments (our merchant of record) processes your payment details under its own Privacy Policy - we never see or store your card details.
- The download page reads public release information from GitHub's API. No personal data is sent.
- A couple of "as featured on" badges in the footer (Product Hunt, Lifto) load a small image from those sites, which - like loading any embedded image - shares standard request data (such as your IP address) with them. We don't control what they do with it; see their own privacy policies.
Data we don't collect
We don't collect your files, your usage patterns, your location, or any behavioural data - from the app or the website.
Children's privacy
VadeKit is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
We'll update the effective date above if this policy changes in any material way, and note the change on this page.
